Evan Philpott
Head Men's Soccer Coach
The 2025 season will be the seventh for Evan Philpott as the head coach of the Illinois College men's soccer program. Already the program's all-time winningest coach with 49 victories, Philpott continues to lead the program to unprecedented levels of success.
In 2024, the Blueboys finished 13-5-2 overall and 7-1 in Midwest Conference play. The 13 total wins and seven conference victories were the highest in IC history. Philpott's squad also advanced to the championship match of the conference tournament for just the second time in school history.
Individually, the Blueboys boasted the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year in Tyler Schiltz, who was also named to the All-Region IX team by the United Soccer Coaches Association. Schiltz was joined on the first-team all-conference squad by Brock Kennell and Jason Hernandez while Jacob Pelletier was selected to the second team.
The 2023 campaign saw IC break through to the top of the league, finishing with a 10-5-3 overall record which, at the time, tied for the most victories in school history. IC won the Midwest Conference title after going 5-1-2 in league play and hosted the conference's postseason tournament for the first time in program history. Philpott put an exclamation on the season by becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history.
The Blueboys' success on the pitch didn't go unnoticed by their peers. Philpott was named the 2023 Midwest Conference Coach of the Year and was joined on the conference postseason award list by Defensive Player of the Year Albert Nimako and Newcomer of the Year Reed Rogers. A total of five Blueboys were named first-team all-conference (Tyler Lunning, Toby Ybarra, Owen Macias, Nimako and Rogers) while two (Jives Efemini and Kennell) were second-team selections.
Philpott and the Blueboys continued their winning ways in 2022, posting nine victories and Schiltz was named first-team all-conference.
In 2021, Philpott led the Blueboys to a then-school record 10 victories which was highlighted by Schiltz being named first-team all-conference and Thomas Menke landing on the second team.
Prior to taking the reigns at IC, Philpott led the Jacksonville High School boys' soccer program. In seven seasons with the Crimsons, Philpott won more than 100 matches, earned a Central State Eight title, won two regional titles, and guided the 2016 team to a fourth-place finish in the Class 2A state finals.
In his tenure, 54 members of the JHS program earned all-conference honors. Evan was the recipient of two IHSSCA Region 7 Coach of the Year awards and was named IHSSCA Region 7 Person of the Year in 2018. In 2019, Philpott was inducted into the Jacksonville High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Along with his duties at IC, Philpott currently serves as an ODP staff member with the Illinois Youth Soccer Association and is the head coach of Springfield F.C. which competes in USL League Two.
A 2011 graduate of Eastern Illinois where he was a four-year member of the Panthers soccer team, Philpott also earned a Master's of Sports Science degree in Coaching from the United States Sports Academy. Evan also boasts a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, a U.S. Youth Soccer License, and a United States Soccer Federation C License.
